When I try and overclock my Pentium g3258 even lightly (4.oGhz from stock 3.2Ghz) I cannot reboot my system as it remains stuck at the gigabyte boot screen. I then must reset to default settings in BIOS before getting back on.

My Specs: Intel Pentium g3258 anniversary edition
Stock cooler
Gigabyte z97n-wifi
GEFORCE GTX 750ti

This is a newly built computer that works fine and is stable at 3.2Ghz. I have the latest BIOS for my motherboard and am using the newest gigabyte software "Easy tune B14.0904.1".
I have seen some similar posts but none with solutions that have worked.

If anyone has any ideas/has had the same problem I would love to hear what you suggest. Thanks!

Update the BIOS.

And are you using easytune? If so then that's the reason, don't use software for overclocking. To get good results, overclock in the BIOS.

This guy beat me to it.
Don't overclock within Windows, you will have nothing but problems.

I have updated it and I understand that but using Easy tune it should work to some extent, even if sub-optimally shouldn't it?

If it is the case that Easy tune simply doesn't work at all, would you mind giving me some advise on how to overclock this particular CPU manually (I have almost no experience!)

Cheers.

Trust me, I've used easy tune before and all your going to get is a 200mhz overclock max.

all you do is go into the BIOS, and go to your overclock settings and change the multiplier.

But since your new, I'd follow a overclocking guide (tons on google). Once you read a little about overclocking, and do it, it gets really easy.
