When trying to create a mirrored hard drive in Windows 8, what if windows 8 doesn't have the option of "New Mirrored Volume?" When I right click on the new drive, I have three options: New Simple Volume, New Spanned Volume, and New Striped Volume. I have checked the specs of my motherboard and it says that it supports RAID. The computer is an ASUS CM1745.

that's because windows is installed on one of the two disks I assume? Read a primer on raid, it'll really help you understand what you are trying to achieve. Fundementally you need to change the disk driver for windows to a raid driver, backup your machine to another disk, build the raid array and the restore the backup to that array. WARNING creating the raid array (even just to try it) will generally wipe the data on the disks.

Yes, I have two disks of the same size. I did look at the bios and it was not set to raid, but when I set it to raid for the SATA controller, windows errors out and will not boot.
