When trying to create a mirrored hard drive in Windows 8, what if windows 8 doesn't have the option of "New Mirrored Volume?" When I right click on the new drive, I have three options: New Simple Volume, New Spanned Volume, and New Striped Volume. I have checked the specs of my motherboard and it says that it supports RAID. The computer is an ASUS CM1745. I am unsure as to the motherboard make and model as it is just the stock motherboard that came in the above listed ASUS model. I was attempting to follow the instructions found at http://www.tomshardware.com/faq/id-1838899/windows-hard-drive-mirroring-data-redundancy.html to create a redundant backup.

Solution
That is becuase you don't set up true RAID inside Windows. Windows uses a type of software drive spanning, its not true RAID.
Its terrible, don't use it.

To set up a mirrored drive, you do it in the BIOS of your RAID capable motherboard.
You will enble RAID in your BIOS, then when you boot, there will be an option during POST to enter the RAID BIOS of your motherboard, and from there you will build the array.
