Hello everyone! Been having some crazy stuff going on with this new PC that I just built. I cannot get it to startup at first try, I just get a black screen and the BIOS “welcome” doesn’t show up, and neither does the windows startup loading of course. When I manually restart it (Power Button long press) it runs just fine.

I have read that thousands of things could be potentially causing this, from Hard Drive to Power Supply, to graphics card… but my actual bet is on RAM voltages/overclock causing it, since I recently overclocked it via BIOS, setting the default frequency at 2133mhz (which is what my RAM offers at maximum and the max that my Motherboard can read).

The actual voltage is set to “auto” via BIOS, which stays at 1,5V, so I’m not sure if lowering or raising it will solve the problem. XMP is disabled, not sure if that’s relevant. My graphic cards is old, im planning to change it soon but I didn’t have any problem in the past with it. Hard drive is old, but runs just fine. I’m open for any suggestions!

Specs:
- Tacens Mars Gaming 600W power supply
- AMD FX-8350 Eight-Core
- MSI Gaming 970 Motherboard (http://thepcenthusiast.com/msi-970-gaming-am3-motherboa...)
- XFX ATI Radeon HD5770 1GB DDR5
- G.Skill Ripjaws X DDR3 2133 PC3-17000 8GB CL9 (2x modules of 4GB, Dual channel in slots 1 & 3)
- Hard Drive: SATA II WD10EADS-22M2B0 1TB
- Win 8.1 - 64bit

Some screenshots (CPU-Z confirms I’m running at 2133mhz, MSI Command Center does not get accurate frequency readings):

Extra Info:
- Yes, my BIOS is up to date
- Yes, I have read this, but I don't think it applies to the case, since I am able to actually boot the PC: http://www.tomshardware.co.uk/forum/261145-31-perform-s...

Thanks in advance for all the help! If I forgot to mention something please tell me :)

Power supply most likely, and you shouldn't be overclocking with it. Your unit isn't even listed here: http://www.tomshardware.com/answers/id-1804779/power-su...

I would try a friends to see if this is the case, if not then you will most likely have to replace it.

If you think this issue is being casued by overclocking, then drop the overclock to see if the problem persists.

Try raising CPU/NB voltage to 1.275

Not good overclock man. What is your most stable clocks or do you have?
Also avoid shutting down your computer by long press of the power button. I suggest you restart and turn it off.

I know is not the best think to do, but is the only way I can make it to shut down... I have disabled the overclok and turned it back to "deafult" frequencies. Seems to be working fine know, I will keep observing anyway.

It's still happening...No overclock: RAM, frequencies, voltage....all to deafult! but I'm still getting the problem. Any more ideas?

Thank you Guys

Run Prime 95 and check your temperatures, it should not go beyond 70C.
If it goes to high your computer might crash and restart, in this situation re apply thermal paste.

Same as to your GPU, also check cables in the HDD if it was connected tightly.

Most likely your motherboard is trying to read your memory specs but is not accepting them. And will retry until it succeeds. Make sure you set them to correct values, including timings. Your motherboard will behave like that when it isn't able to run a device at certain clocks.

Sometimes your motherboards default is not par with your device specs. Always doublecheck and manually set everything to it's actual specs.

Either raise the CP/NB voltage as suggested or drop the DRAM to say 1600 9-9-9-24, the CPU is onl rated up to 1866, to run 2133 may well require voltage increases to DRAM and/or MC (memory controller) which is normally the CPU/NB voltage
