Cooling unit: Noctura NH-D14
Motherboard: ASUS Z97-A
CPU: Intel i5 4690K

Hey there, i'm installing a new cooling unit on my ASUS Z97-A mobo. I'm using an intel CPU. I'm not sure if I'm supposed to remove the back plate on the mobo or remove the rubber inlay on the cooling unit's backplate. I'm also confused about compatibility in general, the mobo says it's a LGA1150 and the cooling unit says it's usable on LGA1366, LGA1156 and LGA775 but i've seen builds here and elsewhere where folks are using the two together.

Noctua intel instructions say to leave the mobo stock backplate in place on LGA1366 and LGA1156 and install the cooling unit over it. Is my ASUS LGA1150 the same thing as an LGA1156 for this purpose?
