I just got my i7 4790k , i have a cooler master 212 evo and i fired up cinebench and did the cpu test....i used real temp and hwmonitor and they both seem to be telling a max of 65c at 100% load.....the cpu is running at 4300mhz

is this a good max temperature?

Actually, it sounds good.
I would expect you to turbo to 4.4 at stock.

If your vcore is under 1.30 your temps should be nominal and ok for 24/7 operation.

A stronger cooler might keep higher vcore and OC under temperature control, but I don't think >1.30 is great for 24/7 operation.

How much better than 4.4 do we really need?

Well, that's a whole lot better than my 4790k with a H100i cooler. I was getting 90C+, then thermal throttling down to 3.7GHz at 100% load. At idle, I was getting around 32C. Then again, I believe I have a near-defective chip.

is cinebench reliablie way of stressing cpu? i am kinda scared of prime 95 as i heard all bad stuff if prime95 is used with i7 4790k .....i just used cinebench so far and 65 is the max it went

I'm running both, but if I didn't want to spend 48 hours of testing, IBT is definitely the way to go. Being 8h custom stable on prime still got me crashed within 2 minutes in IBT at 4.8ghz 1.32v vcore. Needed to raise to 1.322v to get stable. Vice versa, if IBT passes, prime never crashed for me. Prime stresses the cpu just as much as IBT, by the way. You can't get over 100% load with AVX.

Yeah, it's a lot faster, but it's also a lot more strenuous, and gives a lot higher temps than just running Prime 95 or OCCT. I won't use it any more, and the majority of the guys on the overclockers forums that I'm a member of won't either. They either use OCCT or Prime 95 for stability testing.

Use and do what you want....just giving my opinion.

I've never seen temps as high in Prime 95 as I have in IBT. OCCT is pretty close, but still not quite as high. I don't like high temps, so I stay away from it all together. I used to use it religiously quite a few years back, but switched to OCCT and haven't thought twice about it. Yeah, it takes a little longer, but I think it's a better test, with a lot more options to customize your stress test.
