Running an older computer at work. Has XP, and IE9 I believe. When I attempt to open IE, it acts as if it is going to open, "connecting" with an hourglass, the and circling ring, loads my home page address in the address bar, and then stops. I cannot access anything on the page. It stops responding and takes forever to close- usually having to end in my task mgr. What I have read seems to indicate that I need an "update", but it will not update, IE is my access to the internet. I am stuck and can do nothing.
I attempted to download Chrome onto a flash drive, but it tries to connect through internet explorer as well. HELP! I need this computer for work and have been down a week already!

Solution
What does task manager show for the CPU and RAM percentages used while opening IE? Also, why don't you do this:

1) Install Chrome from the USB Drive
2) In the Control Panel, set your default Internet browser to Chrome, so that way Web Pages will open in Chrome always

Also, for work you should be using something like Chrome in the first place because IE is generally less secure and prone to vulnerabilities.
