I am trying to fix my bosses personal computer. She had a Seagate HD that crashed and then bought a 1 TB WD SATA HD for me to install. When the computer starts up it gets stuck on the Dell logo page and will not go any further. When I go in the BIOS settings, it does not recognize the new HD. I am not sure what settings I should have for the HD to be recognized. I cannot load any programs as the computer doesn't have a place to load them. Do I need to change the jumper settings? BIOS settings? Any help would be greatly appreciated!!

I checked the SATA cables and started it back up. I left the cover off and can hear clicking now. It clicks between 12-24 times and then there is a pause and it starts clicking again. I'm guessing this means the new drive is faulty?

well does the computer support 1 tb drives?? is the old drive the onr that was shipped in the dell from the factory and if so could it have a dell firmware flash that needed to work with dells computer ??

these thing can be part of using a prebuilt there not like the boards we use for custom builds in any way they can add there own proprietary ''fixes'' to prevent tampering of there computer to maintain there warrantee as in there only guaranteed to work with the parts installed by hp dell whoever out of the box all upgrades you do is at own risk ..
