So, my mom brings me home this custom built pc, and by the looks of it, it seems pretty old. I also have 2 laptops around 2009 age, so I am good for replacement parts such as upgrading the ram. But I have a problem, some of the cables from the power supply rent connected to anything. If anyone would be willing to help over skype, I would be really grateful :)

You laptop RAM is a different form factor than a regular PC, you will not be able to swap them out.

Not all cables coming out of a PSU will be utilized, the main key is to make sure every component is getting power in some form. Make sure that you have a cable coming from your PSU to the: motherboard (probably one large one, and then a smaller 4-8pin connected closer to the CPU on the motherboard), hard drive, optical drive, graphics card (if it needs it, or if you even have one)
