Hi

So I have a HP Z600 workstation. Recently working perfectly fine without failure. Today I was doing some photo editing when the machine just powered off and started clicking. Since this it no longer turns on. The clicking is at regular intervals of around a second and is accompanied by the HDD activity light blinking at the same time.

I disconnected all external peripherals and internal components (Bare minimum of CPUs and RAM, no GFX or HDDs) The clicking still continues. I then pulled the PSU from the case and attached the mains plug and there is no clicking. I am certain that the clicking is from the PSU as I've disconnected everything else that has a moving part. Also having stuck my head well and truly inside the case I can tell that it is coming from the PSU direction.

Any suggestions? My gut instinct is telling me that the PSU has shorted and is not pushing enough power to turn the PC on or the mainboard has failed.

It's a proprietary power supply and motherboard , so you would have to buy a replacement from Hp.

It doesn't use standard ATX power supplies.
