the r9 270x would be a good jump, you could also check out the new r9 285. That has a 300 watt PSU so unless you are gonna upgrade the PSU you are looking at the GTX 750ti which can run on 300 watts and doesn't need a connector.

For that one they have added a 6-pin power connector for overclocking and suggest a 400 watt PSU. I wouldn't risk it but if you do you would have to make sure your PSU has a spare 6-pin power connector

From everything I have read the GTX 750ti is the go to card for upgrading OEM computers with questionable 300 watt PSUs. If you want to be even safer and give up some performance you could try the GTX 750.
