Hey guys, I've been having a problem that I've been running into lately. I've noticed that this is happening in 2 games, Insurgency and Arma 3. In Titanfall, I haven't noticed it, but maybe it's so minute that I didnt catch it.

Basically, the game runs great without any problems at around 75 fps, then after around 5-10 minutes play it drops down to 30 fps for 1-5 seconds, then returns to normally being smooth at 75fps. Any idea what could be causing this, speedfan says my card is at 54F which, from what I know, isnt too hot. This happens in other games as well, so im thinking it may be a problem with the graphics card. Any help appreciated.

System specs:

AMD FX 8320 3.5 ghz
8 GB RAM
Nvidia GTX 660 2gb ram

Could be normal. On intense scenes, the graphical load goes up and your fps drop. Fix - better graphics cards.

Or it could be because your CPU is overheating. From your mobo UEFI software, what CPU temps are you getting at idle and while gaming?

My PSU is a: Take Me 700W ATX Silent 120mm TAKZAS42602

As for intense scenes, I dont think it has anything to do with graphical load. It happens no matter what is happening in game.

My GPU heat never goes above 54

Idle: 33
Gaming: 54

Is it possible that this is a PSU issue? Is there a reliable way to verify that this is the issue?

As for everything I have:

OS: Windows 8.1 64bit
PSU: Take Me 700W ATX Silent 120mm TAKZAS42602
Samsung DVD-r
Toshiba 1TB harddrive 7200 RPM
Gigabyte Nvidia gtx 660 2gb ram/ddr5/192bit
Elixir 8gbram/1600mhz/ddr3
Motherboard: MSI 760GM-P23 FX
Processor: AMD FX 8320 8core 3.5ghz/16mbca

I hope that's the info you need, I appreciate the help!

Check your PSU voltages. Use your mobo UEFI software - http://au.msi.com/product/mb/760GMP23_FX.html#hero-over... - Auto OC Genie to get 12v, 5v and 3.3v readings. Post them.

Also you shouldn't be putting an 8 core cpu on your mobo. It's only rated to 95W.

In the "voltage" section there are a few values, I'll copy them all:

CPU Vcore: 0.800 V
DRAM Voltage: 1.500 V
3.3V: 3.232 V
5V: 5.046 V
12V: 12.320 V

OK - the power supply volatges look OK

And your cpu voltage (Vcore) too - maybe a bit low if anything.

I think your hardware is running OK. I think a gtx660 is a bit light on for BF3 - http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/geforce-gtx-660-gef... - Tom's gets about 40 fps in BF3

So maybe buy an Asus GTX780 - $420 at Newegg. Also get a better power supply eg XFX 650, Seasonic 620 or 650, Antec HCG 620M

I don't think it's an outdated GPU. It gives decent performance on lots of games, it's just that this slowdown seems to come from nowhere. I made a log with GPU-Z, it seems that the during play, when everything is normal, my GPU core clock and gpu memory clock are at 980 and 1502, respectively. When I examined the times where I experienced the slowdown, the Coreclock dropped to 783 while memory clock to 405. This last for about 12 seconds, then reverts to normal, smooth, gameplay.

Maybe your card is faulty or maybe its your motherboard. Try a different graphics card.
