Hi, I have an HP Pavilion dm4 laptop with Windows 7 Professional, and a Netgear N300 wireless router WNR2000v3. Router is using WPA2-PSK security, SSID Broadcast is enabled, and the router is using a default MAC address (not a connected device’s MAC address).
About a week ago there was some severe weather in my area and we had a power outage overnight. Later that week my internet provider (Access Media 3) had a huge internet outage. Service was eventually restored, and I can get ethernet connection through my router, but the wireless still doesn't work. All my devices recognize the wireless network is there with strong signal, but attempting to connect fails and brings up the wireless troubleshooter on my PC. This has occurred with devices right next to the router and in other rooms of my apartment. Rebooting the router restores wireless for maybe 24hrs, and then the system denies access all over again. Rebooting any of my devices does not solve the problem, and I’ve tried removing the network from wireless memory and reconnecting/remembering the network, to no avail. Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

Thank you

Have you run ipconfig /all on a host successfully connected via wired compared to the failing wireless ? The IPv4 address should be different, but the DNS, DHCP Server, Gateway and Network Mask should all be the same.

Start menu -- type "cmd" in the search box, click on cmd.exe -- This brings up a "DOS" window. Type ipconfig /all

Lots of stuff scrolls by ...

There should be something (on the Wireless) that says "Wireless LAN Adapter"
It should show an IPv4 Address of 192.168.x.y

I would do a factory/hard reset of the router and then reconfigure the wireless settings in it, just like when you first got it. it sounds like some data in it got corrupted and it now has a wrong passcode stored.

I'll preface this to say that my wireless LAN is on and scanning. The Wireless LAN section says 'media state...media disconnected', there is a physical address present, and DHCP and Autoconfiguration are enabled

+1 for a factory reset, and re-typing all the wireless info. At least you have a known baseline.

Thank you for your help! It appears that the factory reset has worked for now.
