Old dvd/dc reader & burner

So I'm setting up a new computer at the moment and I'm wondering if my 8 year old ODD (if that's what a cd/dvd player is called) will work in my new z97 Gigabyte motherboard. The cd/dvd reader is powered by a 4-pin molex and got this big long flat cable out of it which simply says "HDD Cable". Any tips?

The motherboard is gigabyte ga-z97mx-gaming 5.

Big long flat cable? Sounds like an IDE cable, no it won't work. Check with google to see if its IDE or Sata, I'd link them but I'm at work.
