*sigh* Okay. So long story short, I worked really hard for my PC and whatnot and my friend was going to help me build it. I myself know very little about it so that's why he is helping me, since he is really good with it. WELL, much to his expectations, the computer turned on for just a split second and then turned off. We then went over many different possibilities on why it did and blah blah blah. Before I continue, remember that I comepletely 100% trusted everything he said. Anyways, eventually we deemed it to be the power supply for reasons that some pin was missing or something with the 20+ 4pin connector (idk what its called :c). We returned it to newegg only to get the exact same power supply with the missing pin -.-. We put it together with it and this time, it didn't even turn on. We heard a low hum coming from the place where the power supply is plugged in from but not much else.

Anyways, he said to just buy a new power supply that has more watts since I do have some money to spend. At this point though, I'm starting to question his skills and choices. So here I am, desperately looking for help on a website. Can someone please help me out on this?

I think that the issue is probably that the PSU is not powerful enough, I would buy a 500 watt for sure with that build. Also, I recommend a different brand such as Seasonic or XFX or EVGA. Also, is your CPU power cable plugged in?
