Computer only attempts to boot when power supply is switched on. After it has power the power button doesn't work. I checked if it was the power button by unplugging it from mobo but computer still attempts to start up the instant power supply is switched on. Cleared CMOS but came up with a few stray lines for an error code. It always gives me error code 9A right before it shuts down when first giving it power.

If anyone's looking about the same problem, I took everything out and ran the motherboard with only the CPU fan hooked up, on-board video, and 1 stick of memory and it ran fine. I put everything back in the case and made sure everything was done right and PC is working perfect again! Check for short circuits!

I realize this is an old post, but I found it while troubleshooting a very similar issue and thought I would add this for anyone else that finds there way here.

I have had my ASRock Z77 for about 4 years. 2 days ago I decided to upgrade my case and add a bit of ram. After doing so I was getting the 9A error. After following every suggestion I could online one of my friends brought up risers. My original case was designed such that risers were not needed and I completely forgot about them when moving cases. Having connected my mother board directly to the case was causing a short and thus not allowing the board to completely initialize thus causing the fault. Once I added the risers between the case and mother board everything started up just fine.
