So this is a bit of a common one, but I never see people describing my EXACT problem. First I'll list my build.

CPU: AMD Fx 8320
Motherboard: MSI 970A-G43 ATX AM3+
Ram: G.Skill Ripjaws X Series 8GB (2 x 4GB) DDR3-1866
CPU: SAPPHIRE Radeon HD 7870 GHz Edition (OC)
PSU: Corsair 500W ATX12V

Alright, this card worked fine forever. I have a steam library full of games (Fallout 3/NV, Skyrim, Rising Storm, Payday 2, etc) Which to this day do not have problems. But a short time ago on Archeage closed beta, I noticed that water bricked red/black artifacts on the screen, and sometimes I would get screen tearing. Bringing the quality wayyyy down seemed to help this problem, although not totally eliminate it.

A game I've played for nearly eight months, Tera, started to artifact as well, and quite severely. The settings that used to run so smooth now artifacted like nobodies business. Bringing the quality down on this game also helps, but doesnt sort it out completely.

I've cleaned the computer up a bit (for whatever good that does) and monitor the temperatures regularly. The CPU and GPU under load will hover at about 55-59c, at idle they're in the 30's. Benchmark programs run completely smooth with no artifacting.

I was hoping for some help in being sure this is in fact a card problem. I believe the card is under warranty (although I may have trouble finding the SKU and P/N.) but dont want to be without it if it's not the card, anyway.

Here are some random things I noticed, don't know if they're relevant;

If I try to printscreen them, they will absolutely not show up. Everytime the screen stops for a split second for the picture, the artifacts are gone. I also notice the artifacts only hit certain textures; In tera it's the ground, in Archeage the water. I can record them, however. I have virtually no trouble outside of these two games, and even in game, things like health bars, skill bars, distant scenery and the like in problem free.

Any help that could be offered would be greatly appreciated!

Solution
Yes that is stock.

Solutions:

1. Try to lower the GPU clock to 1000Mhz and check if there is still artifacts.

2. Update to AMD catalyst 14.7.

I cannot guarantee that this will solve the problem but at least give it a try.

It's factory overclocked. And according to the AMD software everything is up to date.

According to your GPU specs, you have an OC edition so you can overclock it manually by Tri-XX if you have. Do you know how to check the GPU settings using GPUZ?

If yes then check it and determine if you are running in the stock settings. Artifacts are sometimes caused by unstable GPU overclocks.

As far as I can tell that's stock. But I'm not really familiar with OC.

Nope, I hit apply and restarted even. The catalyst controls say 1000 but gpuz remains unchanged

Ok so, spots that were freaking out arent anymore, but now text and letters throughout the game are flickering like crazy. Does that mean anything?

Edit: By the way, I don't know if it's appropriate, but here is a twitch recording I made of the previous artifacting. The screenshot shows the weird flickers in quest log text and what not.

Thing is the game used to run great. I added a twitch video that shows the artifacting, into my previous post.

Lol, it don`t have to be like that.
Do you have unengine valley? Set your GPU to stock and run the unengine valley for an hour and see if it shows artifacts.

If you won`t see artifacts, your GPU is fine and I think there is a bug in the your game.

Unengine valley doesn't artifact, runs very smooth. 3d Mark however runs terribly, and I get horizontal lines across my screen.

We`re running out of options man.
Try driver update.
Man I should make a guide for driver update, there are so many people having the same problem.

Do you know how to uninstall your current drivers using DDU and CC cleaner? You can search it on youtube.
