well I definitely wouldnt upgrade to another non K cpu. I would suggest the 3570k so you dont need to upgrade the mobo but you will get better performance by overclocking, basically as much as you can get from a 4670k but not as good as what you could get from a 4690k

IMO, neither, your CPU is good enough to not bottleneck any given card and performance wise too its a great CPU. What's your total budget, and how about upgrading your GPU to get gaming performance, if gaming is your purpose then. So, what's the purpose of the build? Upgrading the GPU (or CF if you've a good enough PSU and GPU) will be a lot better as i5s are pretty powerful.
Or, if you just need to upgrade CPU, get an i7 3770k on that same MoBo, will be beastly once OCed (an w/o it too), for atleast 3-4 years. For comparision, 5 year old i7 960 are still strong enough for any latest title. The hyperthreads of 3770k will help for future gaming as games are likely to get more multi thread optimized.

Its totally for pure gaming. I'm just afraid that my cpu will bottleneck in the future. My current gpu is gtx 660 and planning to upgrade to an R9 280X.

No there won't be any bottleneck, as in games which benefit from CPU the most, like BF4 MP, you'll likely not have enough power in 280X or enough threading in i5 K to notice the difference, an i7 will be the most appropriate CPU upgade IMO.

SLI 660 will be better than single 280X (aka re-branded 7970):

PS: What model and wattage is your PSU?

It'd not be enough, you'd need atleast a 650W PSU. You won't have any issues with SLI.
For PSU, upgrade to EVGA G2 750W and then get another 660 for SLI.

What upgrades do you recommend?
This is my current build:
i5 3470
P8Z77 M-Pro
8gb HyperX 1600mhz
inno3d GTX 660
Antec HCG 520w
Antec Kuhler 620

I aim to make my build future proof for about 4-5 years and play games in ultra high settings with a very decent FPS.

3 major improvements:

Upgrade CPU to i7,
upgrade PSU to 750W,
Memory to 16GB (can hold on to this for a couple years)

upgrade GPU to either another 660 for SLI or atleast R9 290, or wait for 900 series to come out and look at the equivalent of GTX 780, I know it'll cost big, but you won't have to worry for about 3-4 years then.
