Hello

Right now I have two options looked up for my new rig that are Gigabyte GA-Z97P-D3 Z97 and ASROCK Z97 ANNIVERSARY LGA1150. I'm not very good with motherboards so the only difference I have found thus far is that the gigabyte board would allow for two g-cards and the asrock one would not. But as it's extremely unlikely that I will ever bother with crossfire as I've heard that it's most of the time way more hassle than it's worth, it's not a crucial difference for me.
Basically what matters to me is which one is more reliable, has better performance overall and what are the real differences between these two?

Other components I'm including in the build, incase it matters, are :
INTEL Core i5-4670K 3,4GHz LGA1150 BOXED
MSI R9 280X GAMING 3G 3GB GDDR5
ZALMAN H1 Full Tower ATX USB3.0
XFX 650W 80+ BRONZE CERTIFIED
G.Skill Ripjaws X 8GB (2x4GB) DDR3 1600MHz 1.5V
and a generic 1tb hd, 128g ssd and a dwd/rw drive.

Thank you for your help :)

Good build, you can replace 4670k with 4690k, its a better overall OCer and has better integrated heatsinks. Everything else seems great.

For the MoBo part, both are good options, I'd get the GB one, it has great power phases (helps in OCing) and the having the option for CF is always a plus point. Also, in the same price range is Z97 EX3 which's even better with SLI support and more power phases, currently $90 after mail in rebates:

PS: You'd need an af CPU cooler if you want to OC.

Thank you for your reply and on commenting the whole build too :)!

I'll be getting the GB one then, it's 10e cheaper anyway as it's on sale. The extreme 3 is almost 50e more pricey than the gigabyte in the store I'm buing and I've already decided on buying from there, partly because I'm paying in parts and partly because warranties are easier to handle if needed when all the stuff is from one store. As for the 4690k upgrade, I did think about it, but as I'm unlikely to overclock, atleast before the cpu is nearing the end of it's usefullnes, I'm not sure it's worth the 30e price jump, the difference without oc being so little from what I read. Or is there a notable difference?

Also, I'm aware of the cpu cooler requirement for OCing, but yeah I don't need one atleast straight off as I'm not planning on ocing right away ^^

Oh ok, no worries GB is a solid choice too, especially the price difference is so much b/w EX3 and Z97P.
W/o OC, there won't be ANY differenciable increase in performance, not worth it if you're not gonna OC anytime soon.
You don't need an af cooler until you OC, so you're safe there :)
