Raid 0 using SSDs - performance and reliability

The SSDs I would be using is 2 Samsung-840-EVO-SSD-1TB.
How big is the chance of failure with 2 SSDs in raid 0?
Write speed?
Read speed?

i've had my Samsung 840 Pro SSDs in RAID 0 for over a year and they took a lot of abuse. random freezes and shut downs due to overclock instability. power outages (the under ground wires near my home are a mess and the city is too stupid to fix it). i had a graphic card blow up. a motherboard blew up. and still he chugged along. i moved my raided drives 4 times now to new motherboard (3 of those times to new chipsets). never had to rebuild my raid.

my RAID 0 should have failed 20 times already, but every time i turn my computer back on after a loss of power.. there is it. still alive and kicking.

recently i stepped up to 850 Pros though. still in RAID 0

read and write speed pretty much doubled for me. last time i did a benchmark i hit over 1000 MB/s sequential reading AND writing.

There isn't almost any difference between using one SSD and RAID 0-ing 2 of them in speed performance.
Putting them in RAID 0 actually doubles your chance of data failure. It would be much safer if you just use them seperately without RAID-ing.

Failure rate isn't random or uniform, it increases proportionally with the age of the the device. With that said, Samsung's 840 (non-pro) and 840 EVO use Samsung's TLC NAND Flash. TLC NAND has a much lower write endurance and slower response time than MLC NAND. It's so low that I really wouldn't recommend using it in a RAID format.
