Hello,
As part of my university studies, I conduct a market research about hardware distribution, based on a MAC address's DB which was deliverd to me.
Unfortunatley, a preliminary research on the MAC addresses, didn't provide any other details than the device manufacturer, which I found at the OUI table.
I would be grateful if anybody could provide me a method to gather more information about a hardware, based on its MAC address.

Can't do it. After the manufacturer OUI, they can give it whatever number they want, as long as it is unique.

Hello there USAFret,
Do you have any idea, if thers is a mechanism for choosing the number that comes after the manufacturer OUI?
Thanks.

Unless a company has published their methods to assign MAC there is no way to predict anything. Some actually just generate a random number and put it after OUID that they have been allocated. Also because of the huge volume of devices manufactured they must reuse the MAC addresses. So you can't even be sure the id is unique, but they have enough numbers that it is unlikely you would ever find a duplicate.
