Need help with new gpu upgrade

hi im looking forward to upgrade my gpu, 300 dollars is my budget, i play all the new games, here are my specs:

AMD FX 8320
16GB corsair ddr3
PSU: Therlmatake toughpower xt 575 watts
mobo: Asus M5A78L-M LX PLUS
GPU: Gigabyte amd radeon hd 6870 1gb Windforce

I dont want overkill i just want to upgrade the gpu wich is lagging behind

The Sapphire 280X would be a good choice. I've seen it on Newegg for $270.

If you can a week and a half, Nvidia 900 series is reportedly coming out on the 19th. That'll give you some more options.

You'd probably be looking at Nvidia's 970, maybe 960 or if you prefer AMD the R9 280x or R9 285.

amd i can go high up as a 270X 4gb, without having to replace the psu, Nvidia side we'll have to wait for the new ones and the psu requirements

The 270X is a good card. It'll play most things on medium settings.

Yep, I was just focusing on the new-GPU-under-$300 part, but you're right and I expect that the OP will need to replace the PSU for all the options I mentioned, except maybe the 960.

Would be a good bet to wait for the new nvidia parts if you are tight on power, as they will be much better in terms of power usage/performance.
