Windows 11 update brings advertisements to the start menu

I updated my laptop from windows 7 to windows 8.1pro. Instead of installing updated drivers, I installed the drivers meant for Windows7.
This lead to my laptop hanging up!

Solution

Try to reformat then install Windows 7 again then update to 8.1
