Hey guys, i have one desktop that doesn't read cd's (the cd drive open but dont recognize any cd), doesn't have sound (no matter what i do he just can't produce any kind of sound) and i can't get access to the internet with him. Basically, i can't do nothing with him. No sound, no internet, no cd's. Today i went to a pc store just for them to see what's going on with the pc and they told me it's the hard drive and ask 120 euros to fix it. Well, obviously i will not fix the pc there, cause the price is too high for an hard drive, and essentially cause i don't think the hard drive is the problem(i think they are cheating me). It is possible that the hard drive is causing all of this problems ? I would go for the motherboard, for me it was the logical problem since it's the only place where the components are plugged in ( network adaptor, sound adaptor and cd drive). Can someone tell me what you think is the main problem ? Thanks

that is a driver problem not the hard drive at all.. did you format the computer yourself or did it come formatted when you purchased it ?

then that is the cost of the problem .. when you format the pc you remove everything from the computer including the drivers so you will have to reinstall the drivers for the computer to give you audio and internet again.. you can use a substitute computer to download the drivers and then run them on your computer and the problem will be as good as gone.. as for the cd drive it could be bad

Well mate, i will only have the pc tomorrow , but now i remember i tried with another DVD-ROM that i have in other desktop and it didn't work too. So the problem is not with the DVD-ROM. I remember too that the pc dont turn on every time, sometimes it just don't boot and i have to reboot him till it goes to the Windows. And the pc didn't make zero sound, the pc is from my brother and now he told me that when he tried to reproduce something he was not reproducing the musics but was doing a weak noise when he tried to. I will try the drivers of the motherboard tomorrow but maybe the motherboard is broken, idk

now that you have said this i am starting to believe that its really the motherboard acting up on you .. try the given instructions before settling on the bad mobo as the issue

I could not switch the HDD's since the "bad pc" didn't boot with my other hdd. What can i do to make it possible? Anyway, i used a usb defice to format the HDD of the "bad pc" and i did it. But, when i go for the drivers of the Mobo, i installed all of them and nothing happened. No internet, no audio, and the CD-ROM doesnt work too, even if i switch for another. It opens but doesnt read anything The guy from the store said it was the HDD that was broken, but he asked me a high price to fix it and i brought the pc home again. Now idk what is wrong, if the motherboard or the HDD. Wanted to know your opinion cause if there is something broken i want to know what it is the right component to buy. The guy from the store said it was the HDD but its strange to me. Please Help

just replace that motherboard because its not sounding like a hdd problem.. have you heard any strange noise coming from the hdd when you try to boot the system ? if not then you can save yourself the trouble and just replace the board

i would suggest an asus or gigabyte motherboard over all others because they generally have good warranties and the board are always top quality.. tell me your budget and i can suggest two motherboards,.
