Hi, I have recetly built a pc however it will not boot to bios - the motherboard lights up and the usb sockets work on it so I believe there to be a problem with the cpu none of the fans rotate and I wondered if one of the cpu socket pins may be damaged however i did check before installation and didnt see any damage. Cqn some one please help me get my system running. PC specs

I5 4690k
Asus maximus hero VII (z97)
Corsair rm850
Corsair vengeance 2 x 4gb aticks of ram

Solution
Yes, if the fans are connected to the motherboard. Something you could try is to see if you PSU will even come on. You short pins 3 and 4 (Green Wire with any Black wire) on the 24 pin connector and that simulates the power button being pressed.

Have you tried reseting your BIOS?

When did this start happening, did you upgrade your CPU?
If you did I would put the old CPU in and try doing a firmware update on your motherboard. It may just be that your CPU is newer than the motherboard. Although I very rarly see this in a ROG boards.

No it is brand new set up - is it possible to reset bios I hear this is risky and I cant boot to it anyway? My cpu is on the supported list

Resetting BIOS does not hurt the board. It just sets all settings in the BIOS back to factory settings.

As far as checking the version, you may be able to find the information on the information label on the box. Not all companies put the BIOS version n the box however.

If this is indeed a new system you should be able to take it back to the stoe you bought it from and either verify the BIOS is compatable with your CPU or to get an RMA on the motherboard. Some stores may charge you for this service. Te other option is to send the board to ASUS. I beleive all ASUS ROG boards come ith either a 3 year or a 5 year warentee.

I also agree with the other posters in checking your power conections. If you have a spare power supply try it.

I have bios flashed my board to a bios that definitely supports my cpu and still no sign of life the bios update worked as the led flashed through out but no fans or posting upon rebooting it I think I will have to take it apart and return the motherboard for testing as I think that is the problem - Is there anything else I can try? Would the CPU stop the fans from spinning? the Q-code display should light if there is a problem and its not reading anything its just blank so think it must be the motherboard - I don't believe ram or cpu could cause these problems?
