Hi guys!

So i got my laptop (HP Pavilion dm4-1112tx running on windows 7) back from the shop and felt that it got a lot of lag even when dragging the windows around the desktop, which was NOT something i experienced before.

I fiddled around and got this when i tried to run dxdiag

Is this normal? Im gonna bring it back to the shop next thing tomorrow but i would be grateful if anyone can tell me if this is related to my lag and what kind of problems this dxdiag findings would pose.

P.S. I already have my hardware acceleration at full and when accessing 'Right Click -> Screen Resolution -> Advanced Settings' it does not display anything about my GPU

Download Speccy and tell us what it says please. And what kind of lag are you talking about? If it's in games it's because you have quite an antiquated laptop as I see it has a Nehalem based CPU which is old. If it's on the desktop and overall system performance you should defragment your hard drive or buy and install an SSD.

By lag i would mean the overall system performance. I might have not been very clear on this issue: it is more about afterimages from dragging windows around even with all other applications closed and extremely choppy video playbacks (not streaming) which is something i had not experienced before reformatting and sending my laptop to the shop. Thanks for taking the time to answer :)

It seems like your CPU is just aging in my opinion. But it is running pretty hot even for a laptop CPU. Your hard drive in particular is running pretty warm. Really the only thing I could think of to give your laptop a big speed boost is to buy an SSD in which I would recommend this one or this one. Is the dust in your laptop cleaned out? Why exactly did you send it in to the repair shop in the first place?

I was told that it was due to ram failure or something with the motherboard since i could only get the display up in safe mode. I could have probably messed around with my laptop running normally only it'll be like using a pc without a screen ( i did manage to log in on one occasion). I dont clean my laptop very often and this sort of lag only happened after i sent it for repairs.

That being said, might it be a problem due to the directx because im currently running the laptop one application at a time without the directx features. I can live with that lag and no gaming until i get a new pc but since i already paid the shop...

If they did not repair your laptop fully to your satisfaction then I would call them and ask if they can look at it again. Really in the end it would be wiser to pay less money to your aging computer and to invest in a newer one.
