Hi guys, a little while ago i got a 1TB hdd to put games on etc to free space up on my SSD. But i ran into problems using the HDD, i covered all the basics but think the drive may have been faulty.

Simple question, when my next HDD turns up.. is there anything i need to do, except "format" the drive? because when theres nothing on the HDD, i can create a file "games" for example, to install a game into.. will it work? Or is there something i need to know about using a secondary drive for stuff?..

Thanks in advance, hopefully its a simple question as so many people seem to do this set up

On your HDD, create a top level folder -"MyGames" for instance, or whatever you want to call it.

For Steam and Origin games, in the client, designate that as an alternate location
When installing a game, it will ask where. Select that MyGames top level folder on the HDD

For non-Steam or Origin games...during the install, select Custom or Advanced. Choose where you want it to go.
