im planning to buy GTX 750 Ti 2GB and i wanna know if this is compatible with my motherboard and some PSU.
i have
Intel(R) COre i3-2100 cpu@3.106HZ
motherboard: P8H61-M LX3 PLUS
PSU: 400W 12V
RAM: gskill ripjaws 8gb 4gbx2

so is it compatible? and can my psu run it? thanks

Solution

Totally agree with you.its not worth it.(you have to spend at least 50$ on the lowest end mobo). also if you spend that much it will be for an lga 1150 socket mobo which is almost out.so best choice would be to stick with pcie 2.0 and not 3.0
and yes pcie2.0 for a x16 slot has only 80GT/s while 3.0 has 128 GT/s
while those theoretical values look promising you will hardly use up all the bandwidth...

That motherboard only uses PCI 2.0.. which from my understanding would work fine, but you would be much more beneficial from buying a motherboard with PCI 3.0 (thats the bit the GPU attaches to). So yes, i believe it would work, but you could get a better motherboard

it'll work fine with 2.0
3.0 is great, but considering the cost involved in buying a new mobo just for pcie 3.0 is not simply worth it !! :(
so its better to use that motherboard.
Just use that money to get a better 450 watt psu
like the roswell capstone 450

Correct, but the only reason why pcie 2.0 is nearly equal to 3.0 still is because most graphics cards like the GTX 750 ti don't even come close to using up all the bandwidth at 100% load.

while those theoretical values look promising you will hardly use up all the bandwidth unless for some insane games like watchdogs(which not optimized very well) at ultra texture.
i don't think you will be doing anything like that on this system

so conclusion:just get a gpu and if possible get a good psu(which can be used with future upgrades)

Wow fast replies. U guys are the best. Thank u so much. And yes ill buy 600w corsair psu.

Oh 1 last question what do u think is better graphics card? The gtx 750 ti or radeon r7 260x

The r7 260X is better, it is faster than the gtx 750 ti. Only reason why 750 ti is that expensive, is because of it's insane ultra low wattage use.

BTW... If you are buying corsair, don't get the CX Series PSUs, terrible for pcs with graphics cards.

Dude really? I was planning to buy a corsair cx600 with 600W cos its sale and lots of good reviews..

Is cool master 550w better? Cos if ill buy r7 260x it requires 500W above

I know, I'm bummed aswell. But on toms hardware, every power supply expert will tell you how bad the CX series are.

idk about cooler mast, but get SeaSonic, any of their psus are good even though they are a little pricy. But you have to ask yourself, do I want to cheap out on a PSU that might eventually kill my pc and have to buy a brand new computer for even more money?

I recommend the seasonic s12II 620 Bronze, but since you are going for the 750ti
and using an i3 2100,there is no need for that power supply.even the seasonic s12 II bronze 520 is more than enough
