Either a USB or PCI-E WiFi adapter. Available everywhere.

As far as 'maximum capacity'...that is very dependent on environmental conditions. Every house is different.

Yeah their are tons of those adapters, long usb wifi adapters will be better when the signal is good in one part of the house and bad in another part of the house.

I recommend an internal PCI wireless adapter, I have had better luck with them as a permanent solution versus a USB adapter. In the past the USB ones I used tended to overheat and they would cut out regularly, I have a rosewill PCI adapter and it has worked flawlessly for years.

will choosing pci/ pci-e card/adapter effect the connection at all or no?

Nope, depending on how far away you are from your router you may want to get one that has an antenna which you can relocate instead of ones where the antenna comes right off the card. (pretty bad explanation I will provide examples)

Look at the different antennas in these two:

I personally have: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E168... and have never had an issue with it.
