Hello everyone,

My computer turns on automatically when i connect it to the power source, i mean i dont have to press power button its start up when i connect it to power source.

System Specs:
HP DC7900 Mini Tower
C2D E8600 paired with hd7750 and 6gb of ram

Changing power cord does'nt helped, also i have changed my bios settings to default.

Please anyone got any idea about that, its really anoying and may cause brutal damage to my computer.,

Any Suggestion???

Solution

You could have typed the rest of the message....

Maybe the CMOS battery is getting old, you can change it. (It's the large-ish round button-like battery on the motherboard)
Or it's saying to reset BIOS, which I was going to suggest you do anyway, so: Remove the battery while powered off of course and then after a couple of seconds put it back. That should reset the BIOS settings, then try to find a setting that changes...

thx for the reply,

you are right there is no reason to unconnect the power source regularly, but i am in pakistan there is power outage or (Loadshedding) almost 3 times a day, so i have to shutdown my computer and turn off my power source.

Nope, no bios settings had this kind of option.

BTW, i got system error named '' 162 - System Options Not Set '' today when i start my computer, and after setting the time in bios setting i somehow managed to start my computer, its says something about onboard battery ''CMOS'' battery...

any idea about that.??

That should reset the BIOS settings, then try to find a setting that changes if the PC will power back on after a power outage, change it to no/off/disable

But again, it shouldn't damage it so you don't need to fear the automatic power-up if you can't manage to turn the setting off.

Same problem...my pc also from hp mother board - ms7336 ver1.0.
Even I removed CMOS battery and replaced not solved.
And I am not getting any error code.
But it may not be CMOS problem because, I am using one PCIExpress card, when I insert this card I am facing this type of problem.
If I remove that card PC booting when I pressed the power button only.

How can I solve this?????

turn ''After Power Loss'' option to ''OFF''

it is located in your hp bion setting, in advanced tab you will find power-on option or something like that, get there and find ''AFTER POWER LOSS'' option and turn it ''OFF''

hope it might help

Thanks
