Which should I go for? Help me decide on a GPU

Which should I go for? 1 Sapphire Radeon R9 290 Tri-X OC 4096MB GDDR5 PCI-E or 2x XFX AMD Radeon R9 280 827MHz 3GB PCI-E 3.0 HDMI DD Core Editions? I currently run 8 core 4.4ghz AMD FX Piledriver, 32Gb of 1336hz ram 2Gb Asus gt620 and an Asrock 970 extreme3 mobo. I mostly use the pc for heavy particle simulations and sfx rendering Thanks in advance. Dave. Render times are getting too long and my last piece says it would take 180 hours to render and I'm not putting up with it any more!

Check your software documentation and see what type of GPU acceleration it can use, post on the vendor/publishers site and see what other users are using and what results they get you may get better results swapping to a dual Xeon setup if the rendering is mainly on the CPU.

i think you should go with two of those r9 280 in crossfire as it will last you for a very long time and should handle all the demanding titles
of today and the future....but one r9 290 will dissipate less heat than two of them which will make your system much cooler and can give more headroom to overclock any component in your system.. and after some time after the prices come down of these cards you can buy one more to make your system more powerful
