Hello Tom's Hardware,

I would like a second opinion about upgrading a system with a 4K display. The current system is;
i7 920
6GB RAM
HD 4650 GPU
HDD
1080p 22 inch display

The upgraded system will be;
i7 920
6GB RAM
HD 4650 GPU
SSD + HDD's
2160p 28 inch display

My question is, will the GPU be powerfull enough to use the 2160p monitor? If not, what OpenGL card do i need for this? (Since the CAD software is based on OpenGL) Would a FirePro V3900 or even a nvidea 4000 be enough?

Thanks in advance,

Tom1992

no, that GPU is really really old, it won't support 4k.

I would assume any of the new quadro gpus would be great for what your doing.

So a quadro 3000 or 4000 would meet the 4k resolution?

Quadro 4000 doesn't look like it supports the resolution. Possibly at 30Hz but not at 60Hz.

Might look into the Quadro K series, they are a little newer.

Late model Firepro should be the same.

Yes, 4096x2160 at 60Hz so a little more then you need with that Firepro.
