Hi
Unfortunately It seems amd is way beyond intel and in front of all z and x new series of intel board's,for long time the only high end mainboard of amd was 990fx !!
So whats the plan of amd for near future? And as same as past , without any main and important changes, are we finally going to see a 1090fx after all these years as the best and most powerful motherboard of amd!?
Honestly, what's the reason and why amd doesn't improve it self in this producing line same as making graphic chipsets which i believe amd has much better position than others

Anyway as an amd big fan its hard for me to see this tragedy and i would be glad to hear good news

Yep, seems like its 990FX for now, especially with new AM3+ CPUs rolling out TO DATE, such as the fx8100 (recently announced). Also, the people with the 9590 and 9370 cpus that paid so much, would be pretty frustrated if their 990fx boards were immediately outdated. Hence, I suppose they would want to give some time for all that to sink in before thinking of a new chipset.

If they do bother to make another desktop board it will probably support DDR4 and APUs only. Or they will skip DDR4 and go straight to building GDDR5 motherboards with the memory soldered on for their APUs.

CEO of AMD has basically said they will bow out of the enthusiast desktop market and concentrate on more mainstream and low-power devices.

I would be very surprised to see another FX series chip/socket.

Really? I doubt AMD will completely drop out from the high end desktop market because that imo is just a stupid move as it will leave intel with almost a monopoly. I think although their main focus is the low power devices, they still have a side of them that is dedicated to super high end stuff like the 9590's and 295x2's.

ATI and AMD can be considered separate in this regard, they have different goals. They will continue to make high-end GPUs of course, one of the tenets of their business strategy.

They have publicly stated they can't compete in the high end desktop area. I think you will see innovation in the APU sector from AMD. They might make a last ditch effort to bring a DDR4 solution to market, but I don't see it being effective without a new CPU architecture.

With AMD there is just no telling, they like to make a splash and get their name out, i.e. they say no more new CPUs yet the 8370 is now on it's way, nothing really prior to release of the 9590 and none sent out for review, just pow, here it is....

FX8370 doesn't impress much would almost still take the FX8320 and overclock it. The E versions are pretty neat. They look like the product of long term binning.

I kind of want a Bobcat/Jaguar predecessor with GDDR5 onboard, always like to have an AMD chip or two running something. I think it would make an interesting HTPC or even steambox. But I assume the production of that will be consumed by the consoles for a while. If I recall there is a dual core jaguar server board out there already.

They might surprise us all by releasing a DDR4 capable board before Skylake to maybe capture that market.
