Hello guys. I'm new on this forum. I've got a question about my asus laptop and it's motherboard (socket478). I want to buy a ram memory of 4GB 1600 MHz and it's ddr3. My actual ram is ddr2 333MHz. I saw on the google, socket 478 supports both ddr3 and ddr2 and I don't want to burn the motherboard. Can you help me?

only DDR2 SODIMMs will fit

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/SO-DIMM

Finding new DDR2 SODIMMs could be a problem . No one has made them for years

Of course there will have to be an available slot , and if you are using a 32 bit version of Windows XP even 4 gig of RAM will not all be used
