Before you guess this is the PSU let me explain

So since I built the computer about a month ago, I noticed if you put your ear close to the computer you can hear a quiet but high-pitched noise. Again, this is quiet and you can only hear the noise when you hold your ear up by the computer. The noise is coming from the back, and I know you guys usually say this is a PSU issue, but I swear it sounds like it is coming from the fan in the back of the computer. My fan is below the PSU and the noise seems most dominant there, but I am unsure.

Could this be a fan? Do fans ever possibly make a high-pitch noise? Or is it the PSU? I made the mistake of buying a PSU that came with my Rosewill case. It is a 430 watt PSU, but it has to supply barely any power to my specs:

-Intel Pentium 4th Gen not overclocked
-4GB 1600Mhz RAM
-1TB hard drive

I do not have a dediicated GPU. This is a web server running command-line interface Ubuntu so it is extremely efficient. Since the noise sounds like it's near the fan yet my build uses very minimal power, I am unsure if it is PSU or fan. Or could it be the PSU fan? I also want to know how loud this is when people typically experience the high-pitch PSU sound, because mine is very quiet as I said. I am unsure what to do, and could my build work with 300 watts in case I need a new PSU? Thanks!

You can use a toilet paper roll to help you locate the sound a little better.

well in theory any generic PSU could be more than enough for that sistem and work with no issues even at 100% your sistem should consume like 150W at full load...

but... some PSU, HDD, GPU and fans make some pitch sound but depending, there are diferent tipes.. since the PSU in not optimeced fot low noise emisions it could be the PSU but its not an issue if thats the case.

you shold open your case and try to verify if its not cosed by the vibrations of HDD

the HDD is on the opposite side of the case and I know it's not that. So are you saying that this is probably common for a cheap PSU to make some tiny noise and that I have nothing to worry about unless it gets worse? It's never gotten worse, always stayed the same and nothing at all seems wrong.

not a tiny noise it could be the sound of the transformers for example also a regular quallity case could couse more vibrations on some devices... let me explain

well i have my pc with an CM N200, and a CM extreme power plus 500w which is also a "cheap" psu... and i notice what i can call a pitch sound from behind and i thought it was the PSU... i try to stop all the fans manually but that sound stills...
well a mounth ago was the time for upgrade so a new GPU needs also a better PSU, i changed the PSU to a corsair GS and the sound didnt disappear at all but right now its much less... so both, the vibrations of my PSU energy transformers and the HDD made that sound helped by the non best quallity case...

i actually think that its normal and i'm sure that if you stor all your fans you will still hear the same sound

Thanks! I really don't care about the sound because I don't hear it and it is somewhat normal on cheap PSUs apparently.
