I've just made a live cd of BackTrack 5 r3 and it does not detect my keyboard
The keyboard is working fine, works in bios, in grub and then once i have to type "startx" it becomes completely unresponsive and I have to force reset the system.
I have tried two separate usb keyboards with the same result.
Plugging the keyboard out and in I receive an error about the device (will get exact error soon)

I have tried booting in safe mode to no avail.
Have googled the problem but cant seem to find any helpful answers
I have an Irish keyboard, which other people seem to have problems with.

Has anyone any ideas on how to fix this problem?
Any help would be greatly appreciated

Backtrack is LONG deprecated and has been replaced by Kali.

Unfortunately i have extremely limited internet at the moment, so I'm stuck with this.
15gig monthly limit, using 3gigs of that on Kali just isn't going to happen

You're trying to use an old, outdated kernel that may well not support your hardware. If you have a real need for such a specialized distribution it would behoove you to have the latest release.

As I said i cant get the latest release do to my current ISP
It's just the keyboard thats not being detected. Other people have had problems with Irish keyboards, but i havent been able to find a solution.
I'll just upgrade to Kali as soon as I can change ISP
