Needs to stay as close to $ 700 as possible I will be gaming with this build I just want to know if it's a good build and if it's not what could I change?

Solution
For best overall performance I'd pick this to be honest but if you want an overclockable cpu then AMD might be more capable overall than the Pentium.

Haven't reviews of the pentium found that although the average fps are OK there are issues with frame latency and lag?

The 270x should do BF4 on ultra with less aggressive aa settings. For the same price of the 770 build you could actually have an r9 280.

Like i said before. I'd go with the pentium. I've personally benchmarked a lot of cpus in games including that pentium but its a personal preference. The i5 is faster in some cases but overall the pentium 3258 has way better value, theres almost no point in buying a locked i5 unless you don't plan on overclocking. The 770 is also a beast of a card and will not let you down in any game.

I think they are saying it's lunacy (crazy) because a two core cpu cannot generally feed enough data to a card as powerful as the 770 and will inevitably bottleneck the card, especially in games that like many threads. If you weren't planning on overclocking that pentium the i5 is a better bet as the pentium will be hammered by an i5 when they are both running at stock speeds. The only reason you'd pair the pentium with a powerful gpu is if you were going to overclock it (increase its speed) considerably.

If you Google "overclocking g3258" you will find many guides on how to do it including a few on Tom's

Everybody is entitled to their opinion. I'd take the 3258 with the 770 any day over the alternative. Truth is usually benchmarked games found online aren't the most played thing in the world. Here's a list where the 3258 actually beats the i5 locked at 3.1 even with the same video card:

SW:TOR
Mech Warrior Online
Skyrim
Terra
Aion
WoW

I bet more people play these games than Battlefield 4 + Thief + Crysis 3 where the i5 wins.

Like I said at the beginning of the thread, if you're planning on upgrading to an i5 or i7 in the not too distant future then the Pentium will be OK as long as you overclock it, otherwise I'd recommend a more balanced build from the outset.

You will definitely want a cooler on that fx6300 as the one it comes with are awful. The Spec 01 case is very narrow and won't fit a decent budget air cooler. I don't think you need so many fans, one at the front and one at the back is a good place to start then add more later else you risk making your PC as loud as a hovercraft!
