Motherboard not detecting Video Card (I think)

I think my motherboard is not detecting video cards for some reason. It was working fine before, don't know why it would have changed. Story from beginning: So, I just bought a new case and switched all my parts except for the graphics card and psu because I was getting new ones from my cousin. But, it was taking awhile for my cousin's stuff to ship, so I just built the computer with the old psu (psu means power supply) and graphics card (card was asus gtx 560 ti). When I put it together, it started up, the LED's turned on, but no signal from the video card. I know it had power because there was a green light on it which means it has power. So, I just waited until my cousin's stuff got here and when it did I put it in (his card was HD 5970) and the same problem persisted: no signal. I knew it had power this time as well because the fan spooled up. The new psu is a coolermaster 750w. please help me.

Solution
Most common problems are:
1) Power connections (24-pin power and the CPU power (either one 4-pin connector or one 8-pin connector), fans connected to mobo.
2) RAM/CPU not seated properly
3) GPU not seated properly and/or power connected to GPU.

Well, come to think of it I think it could be the cpu power because I have 2 4-pins in there. If that were the problem then that would mean something is wrong with my 560 ti. Should I take out 1 4-pin of just add a 6+2 pin?

Yeah, I'm kind of new to power supplies so I don't know entirely what that means, if it's any help my psu is a gx 750w cooler master.

What would you mean by case connectors, all the cables from the case?
