I'm getting CPU Temps of 43 degrees celsius at the desktop is that normal or good? I'm getting 80 degrees after using HeavyLoad to test it at full load. I used arctic silver 5.

If it is running stock then that can be normal. It all depends on your case airflow and the ambient temperature of your room.

I would expect 10-15c. over ambient at idle.
80c in a stress test is very good.

I would not worry about the temps then. If you want them to possibly go lower, then make sure that your case has adequate airflow.

I have thr same cpu and cooler as you. I get around 35c at idle and full load I get around 67c. Try to add more fans to your case or improve cablr management if you can

I had the same CPU with the stock cooler and it ran at around 30c idle and 70 full load. It was faulty though and I had to get a new one!

Yea original poster those temps are a little high depending on your room temperature.

Should I remove and reapply thermal paste?

What's your ambient room temperature? Could try removing the side of your case and see if better airflow improves your temps but it's possible you applied to much or not enough thermal paste.

I think it was at 76 degrees Fahrenheit. Maybe I applied too much paste. Would you recommend spreading it or a blob?

Also when applying the thermal paste I did leave a finger print on the CPU. Would that be effecting the temperatures this much?

I would clean the CPU with alcohol and reapply about a pea sized drop of paste I believe is the correct amount. Someone correct me if I'm wrong here.

Yes, a pea sized amount or the size of a grain of rice right in the middle of the CPU. The pressure from seating the cooler will spread the paste to the correct areas.

Not really. Those temperatures are still within the range of acceptable. Every CPU is different and yours could tend to run a bit warmer than what others do. It could also have to do with the air flow in your case. However, your CPU is in no danger at those temps.

I reapplied paste and the temperatures are about the same 39-40 degrees at desktop

Is there any point in trying out the stock cooler?

76 degrees is on the warm side - what case do you own & what is your fan configuration inside?

" Upgrading to your cooler to the h100i or a Noctua D15 should also improve your cooling"

Ambient temperature is now around 60 (air conditioner says 57) - I own a Cooler Master HAF X:

Cooling System
140mm Fans
1 x 140mm rear fan
200mm Fans
1 x 200mm top fan
1 x 200mm side fan
230mm Fans
1 x 230mm front red LED on/ off fan

And the Cooler Master 212 EVO has the fan facing the ram.

Also I've been reading that XMP profiles can increase temperatures. I have 2x4 GB g.skill ripjaws set to 1866 MHz. Could that be a factor of my temperatures?

Edit: I turned off the XMP profile and saw no difference. However in the BIOS it reads my CPU temps at 35 degrees at 4000 MHz frequency.

What gpu do you have? Remember gpus can cause more heat in your case. When I was running my 4790 with a gt 630 and thr load temps were lower. Then I finally got my 770 back and the load temps went higher.

Right now I have a Radeon 6850 until I get my gtx 770.

Your case has good airflow and it seems like you have lots of fans...

" I can't really visualize the complete configuration"

If your room is 60 Fahrenheit than your temps are too high and something might be wrong"

60 f is about 15 Celsius that's really cold, I would try to put some new high quality thermal paste and change the orientation of the fan so it's facing the exhaust fan...

I also heard you can put 2 fans on the evo however I've never played around with the evo..

" I like Corsair, Noctua and Phatek's"

You might want try the closed loop cooler master water cooling kit.

I used Arctic Silver 5 assuming it was high quality and have already removed, reapplied, and remounted the heatsink and saw little to no difference. I can reposition the fan to see if that changes anything though. I'll think about purchasing a second fan for a push/pull configuration.

My i7 is constantly in turbo mode, could that be causing the higher temperatures?

It seems I'm in no position to attempt to overclock my processor with the 100% load temperatures hitting 84 degrees after a minute and a half of running OCCT.

Try to reposition the fan & I wouldn't overclock unless you upgrade your cooling solution....

What motherboard are you using?

Did you set your cpu voltage to auto?

What voltages are you getting during load?

Motherboard is Asus Maximus VII Hero. I haven't changed any settings so the voltage is probably at auto.

Also I'm not sure what voltage to list from OCCT but here's the pictures they saved after the test. http://imgur.com/a/T0xnU

1. I suggest you update OCCT because there is a new version that recently came out.
2. Watch Tiny Tom Logan's video on overclocking with OCCT
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mBEeXajbG2o
3. update your motherboard bios if possible.

I suggest you don't use auto voltage because voltage is the main cause for heat, you need to find the sweet spot.
You might need to play around with the load line calibration...

" I'm waiting for my Asus Maximus VII Impact to complete my build, I'm also going to use the 4790k as my cpu"
When my z97 board arrives, I will calibrate and overclock my system and share my knowledge with you.
