Need to format my old PATA to for use on my MAC air

I just removed all my data from my old PATA HDD. now I want to reformat it for use to back all my current data on my MAC. It was giving me the option, now I can't find that option? What do I need to do next?

Hi Hess66. What version of Mac OS are you using? Here's a link with instructions on how to format and partition a drive for Mac: http://wdc.custhelp.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/3865
Just find the corresponding OS and click on "Click Here for Instructions" on the right of it to see detailed information on how to format and partition your HDD.
