I've just upgraded to the R9 270 and I have installed the 13.10 driver and every time i install the 14.4 driver it still says I've got the 13.10 driver, so i follow the way AMD tells you to do it by clean unistalling all the old drivers and then installing the new ones but every time I uninstall the old drivers my computer restarts like normal and every USB device plugged in just stops working so i can't install the new driver which i then have to do a system restore to get the old driver back.

What can I do to get the new driver or fix any problem I am having?

Solution
1. Total uninstall the old driver using DDU (Display Driver Unintaller)http://www.guru3d.com/files-details/display-driver-uninstaller-download.html

2. Run CC Cleaner. (https://www.piriform.com/CCLEANER)
2.1. Clean obsolete files (run the cleaner)
2.2. Fix registry (you can find it in the CC cleaner)

3. Install latest drivers.

4. Wipe your a** and smile. :)

This will fix your problem.

Ok so i did everything again, it still didnt't work so then I got a new driver installer of amd's website, Now this one seems to install properly but when it finishes it says "Installation complete (warnings during installation) check log for details" i open the log file and it says everything but the Display Driver installed and at the bottom of the log it says "Error messages: Driver install failed"

I've re-done everything you told me to do i even ran as administrator and it still fails. Its just the display driver that fails

My motherboard is the asus m5a97 le r2.0 it should work and my bios is the latest i upgraded it as soon as i got my motherboard

Your using an AMD motherboard and you are likely uninstalling everything AMD, including your motherboard drivers. There are a few methods to try to only uninstall your graphics drivers

- Since you have CCleaner, uninstall from there, and only uninstall the Catalyst drivers.

- Try the uninstall from the Windows Control Panel, and only uninstall the Catalyst drivers.

- You could also use DDU more carefully and only uninstall the graphics drivers (never used it, so I'm not sure how easy that is).

- The last method would be to go to: Device Manager > Display Adapters > right click on your graphics card and choose "Uninstall".

Restart your PC and install the latest AMD drivers.
