I have a custom built computer and its somewhat fast.
Specs:
I7 4770K
Samsung 840pro 128gb SSD
MSI Z87 GD65 gaming motherboard
Thermaltake Toughpower gold 750 Watt PSU
Patriot Ram 8gb (idk more about it)

The netgear adapter doesn't connect automatically with the internet upon start up unless I restart my computer quickly after it has been shutdown. However, almost every time I restart it after it has been off all day it it does not connect unless I unplug it and plug it back in. Could this have something to do with power cycling ram?

Im running windows 8.1 OS Home premium off of an upgrade from a clean install of windows 7 pro (yes I know OMG why would anyone do that? cause im weird and I like windows 8.1 lol)

My computer turns on from start button to windows log in screen in 15 seconds. Yes I wrote that correctly... Could this have something to do with it?

I updated it with the recent motherboard drivers and netgears most recent a6200 drivers.

Please ask questions and give ideas on how I could fix this problem.

If your computer is booting that fast then I assume it is going into standby. Even if it is it shouldn't matter the A6200 should be connecting to your network. That is a question. Does it connect to your network and you can't get to the internet? Or is it not connecting to anything?

To solve this you may want to remove the adapter, remove the driver and software and remove the network connection. The reinstall it all. Frankly I don't think that will help but this is going to be a trial and error.

Do you have another adapter to try to see if you eliminate the A6200 things work as they should? Again another trial and error.

Did the A6200 work fine with Windows 7 before the upgrade. If so then something corrupted in the upgrade. The uninstall and install may help but sometimes no. With windows it can take a clean OS install to correct some issues.

That said if nothing else works try imaging your drive with a system image copy. The put a clean copy of W8 on load drivers and see if the problem goes away. If so then you know it's the upgrade install. If not then it is something between the pc, W8 and or the A6200. At that point you can restore your pc with your image and be back where you were. Then look at another networking solution

Sorry I can't be more help but these kinds of issues are hard to find and not knowing all the behavior you are experiencing its hard to troubleshoot. My experience when all else fails start from a clean install.

Thanks for the answer. I can try this and see if it helps although I have tried reinstalling the OS more then once and it doesn't seem to be that and I know for sure that it is not booting from standby because I can unplug it and plug it in after the full power cycle and boot it up in the same amount of time. I have downloaded the latest and greatest a6200 driver from support on netgears website and saved it to my desktop and will be downloading it after I uninstall the old driver and unplug it. Also, is there any setting that could be causing it and is there any fix that could reset it...? thanks so much for the help. It could be just a broken netgear adapter but I don't have another to test it.

Could be something in the power settings of the laptop and windows. Unfortunately windows is notoriously bad about coming out of standby and have everything work properly. I doubt it is a bad adapter. But if you can get another to try great. Or any other usb adapter for that matter. The A6200 is a complex adapter to begin with. My suggestion which you WON'T like is to leave the computer on and not let it go to standby unless you must. And then know a reboot may be required.

I have several pcs that run 24/7 because I know that IT'S A crap shoot how they will respond from standby. And these are a mix of older legacy and new form factors.

I tried to reinstall the driver and it didn't seem to work I didn't see it in the list on add remove programs so I just unplugged it and restarted it and installed the new one.
Also,
1. It is a desktop
2. It is starting from being completely powered down for sure.
Thanks again for the help. I cant keep it on because my family members with whom I live have the idea in their heads that my computer when left on will spontaneously combust and burn down my house...
