cpu temp 103* C...yeah...very bad.

I managed to get into the bios and the cpu temp said 103c.

The fan is over working it seems. It's an Intel core 2 duo 2.4 ghz chip.

Build the computer out of used parts and everything else is working...so any ideas why the temp is so high? How do I lower it?

Could it be the very crappy PSU that i have? i have a coolmax 400w.

Did you cleaned the heatsink and the cpu surface to put new thermal paste?

really? The case came with 2 fans and they work. It's Rosewill FB-03 Dual Fans ATX Mid Tower Computer Case.

Okay, either the temperature sensor is messed up on your Motherboard, or the fans that came with it really suck. Have you check the temps on Core Temp or Real Temp?

For a temporary fix, dont look at the temp in bios. just look it up on Core temp or Real temp

oh and also forgot to ask, is the heat sink hot can you touch it? if its hot then yes there is a real heat issue.

I have a blank Hdd, which means no OS on it. Heat sink...I really hate to ask because I don't want to sound stupid but where is that?

yea, then just install Windows 7 on the HDD and download Real temp or Core temp.

If it's the stock intel heatsink with the push pins then there is good chance the pins are either broken or not inserted correctly. If you check the back of the motherboard you should see where plastic pins go through, then split and hook onto the motherboard. If any of them don't look like they've taken then your not getting good contact between the CPU and heatsink

Try reseating the CPU. If the heatsink is not sitting flush it could cause this issue.

The heatsink pins are broken but the heatsink is on there very tight.
