First Post! Yay.

So my problem right now is that I have two networks, that originate from the same router/modem device (Netgear c3700) with a modified DD-WRT router for a wifi extender (Buffalo WZR-600DHP).

I have all my computers running on the 5ghz network, while I run all my mobile devices on the 2.4ghz network. The problem lies in that the Printer (Canon PIXMA MX922) is only compatible with the 2.4ghz network.

It's worth noting that the wifi extender only extends the 5ghz network, and not the 2.4 ghz network.

Most of the computers on this network are Macs as well.

Is there a way I can open up the networks to communicate with each other?

By having it setup as 2 different networks, the printer will be limited to being on only one of these, and not accessible on the other.

The alternative is to set this up so the 2nd router is configured as an access point, with the same SSID and password. This should make this function as one network, with the printer available.
