Thanks for pointing that out .... i started out the post from the mindset of the general public and never got back around to making that point. I edited it above. I'm sure you have seen me post the "full description" several times but just about every PSU brand name anyone's ever "heard of" doesn't "make" anything..... I usually end up closing with the following link
http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/power-supply-psu-brands,3762.html
As for what I listed and why, I list the ones that score 10.0 on build quality and 10.0 on Performance in the top spot.....lose 0.5 on either and you now get "very good". For my personal build's I look for no less than a combined 19.5 but with the current pricing of the X Series, I been eating them up like crazy. But OEM's are no different than the vendors themselves.... OEM name is no guarantee of quality either. The way this works is a vendor puts out a performance spec and says "Give me a PSU with these features". The selection is not as much along the lines of who makes the best stuff but who gives the lowest price **that meets the performance specs**. That's why you will see one OEM doing a few sizes and another doing others.
I can't tell ya how many posts I have answered on THG over the last 10 whatever years in response to "Corsair's PSU's are made by Seasonic and they are the best".... but at the time, Seasonic was making most of the 2nd tier TX V2 series and it was Channelwell (who was usually dissed in the post) was actually making the close to perfect HX750 - 850 .... but they were also making the two dogs in the same series (HX1000 and 1050). So Channelwell I see as mixed bag, sometimes they hit it, sometimes they don't. But no guarantees about anything till it hits the test bench and gets disassembled.
My 1st passion before PCs was in the audio world and I have always been impressed by workmanship. I once bought a pre-amp w/o hearing it because opening the cover I looked inside and it looked like "God made it"
. It turned out to be an excellent unit as I expected from reviews, and a few peeps have been trying to buy it off me for 10 years. As for PSU's, I have never seen a bad Delta unit .... of the ones I have opened, or seen disassembled on jonny's site, they are the cream of the crop. Delta made my fav PSU of all time the Antec CP-850 (still have 2 running) and I had many of the signature series. Then again, Delta also made the EA series and Seasonic made the terrible Neo series. So again, I truest OEM name no more than vendor name ....
Flextronics stuff is pretty much uniformly very good as as is FSP.... but not up to delta from workmanship perspective. Seasonic is up at Delta's level in the premium lines .... and by that I mean in the X series the components and workmanship are excellent. In the M12 series, the components drop a bit but the workmanship is still superb.
