I have a brand new PC and want to install Windows 8.1 on my newly acquired SSD. I also have a regular HDD.

Should I make a partition on the SSD (like 30gb) for the system file or just go with a normal installation?

Also I heard the term "pagefile" (swap). Is this the kind of files that's installed automatically or should I install it on a new partition (like we do with Linux)?

Normal install. Don't partition it...no need.

Pagefile is for when the system runs out of actual RAM, and swaps in and out to a designated space on the hard drive.
The most modification you should do with it is change the default size, and only if you have sufficient RAM.

What size SSD is it?
