2nd Hard Drive

I have a dead laptop. The hard drive has windows 7 installed. I plugged it into my desktop as a second hard drive which also has windows 7. I just want to use it as a slave. I cannot boot windows with it plugged in, Windows tries to repair but it doesn't work. I checked bios for boot order but it doesn't say hard drive 1 and 2. It just says hard disk. What can I do?

Hi there NickelnDomer,

Do you have a SATA to USB cable? If you have one, you can try to attach the drive externally after you have already booted the computer.

Ill try that. Thanks. Could I try repairing the drive with the windows CD?

You may try to. Though be careful not to start repairing the hard drive that is already working properly. Or maybe leave only the drive that is causing problems attached to the system.
