Don't worry if PCPartPicker says that the motherboard is not compatible. It is compatible.

TechCIDLC's build looks good, but you can save your self some money. You can get less expensive RAM and SSD if you watch the discount and daily deals (assuming they shipped to Toronto). Are you using pcpartpicker?

Not about speed, but about parts quality altogether. Why would you pair an i5-4590 with a cheap H81 motherboard? It is not worth it. Same goes with the power supply. All parts should be equally good, for a nice balanced computer.

Can you elaborate on that statement? The h81 will not hinder cpu or gpu or gaming performance in any way. It offers less features but nothing that will affect gaming or performance. It's not like the cpu or gpu will be slower. It offers less non gaming features but thats all.

At the same time you have a 970 chipset in place of a 990 and it will hinder overclocking vs 990 chipset, Where as the 4690 doesn't offer overclocking just far superior performance even if you had a 990 chipset and oc'd to 4.5Ghz/

This is a gaming computer, all the parts I picked will work just fine actually better. 84 watt cpu tops out at about 105 watts the gpu will not consume 300 watts at load, it's around 284watts at full low. That leaves over a 100 watts of headroom and the PSU can easily handle that. RAM and SSD will not draw very much more.

Lot's of power and nothing at all wrong with the psu.

the amd cpu costs almost half as much as the intel one, besides if you save like 100$ on the cpu you can get a 240gb ssd from samsung and have way better performance. I Agree that the i5 is better at gaming, but rendering and just running windows in general the amd cpus destroy xD . (I chose an amd fx 6300 for my build and paired it with an oc'd r9 280x. There is about 2-6 fps difference between the 2 proccesors xD).
