Tosiba dt01aca100 spinup noise

I got a new toshiba dt01aca100 hdd and it make clicking(cracking?) noises when it spins up like my older IDE 20gb hdd. after it spins up it works rather quietly. is this normal or should i get a replacement?

If a given HDD makes clicking, cracking, grinding and such types of weird noises, this most of the times is an indication of something being wrong with it. I would suggest you to back up your data as soon as possible. Another thing you can do is to run a brand specific testing software and check the health of the drive. If it fails, I guess you should just get a replacement.
