Hey everyone,

I'm a 1080p60 gamer but I mod a lot...like a whole lot. Will a R9 290X provide me with perfectly stable FPS for 3-4 years to come or would a 295x2 be worth the extra price? I've heard mixed results. I already know that the 290X will be a slaughterhouse for games at a teensy 1080p60 right now at least, but what about in 2 years? Or 3 years?

If not, would the 295x2 stand the test of time to last twice as long as the 290X to merit its price tag of double? I would want perfect 1080p60 gaming for twice as long as the 290X since it's both twice the price, twice the memory and twice the power.

I'd love some strong, fact based opinions. I've been going at this for a week now but it's so hard to know. My gut tells me that a 290X will be boss for a couple years and then I can use all that extra money that "would have" gone into a 295x2 for an upgrade down the road if it's ever necessary.

What do you guys think?

The 295x2 is obviously faster so it will last longer.
As for total cost, you will probably be better off getting a 290x and upgrading it sooner, rather than spending extra on a 295x2 and waiting longer to upgrade.

As with everything, top tier products offer diminishing returns. A 295x2 is about twice the price of a 290x, but nowhere near twice as fast.

For a really nice 290x light the lightning you are looking at 650 dollars so 340 more you get a lot more caard. You really want to think about this for a while. Thw 295 is a pretty good performer for the price.
